Workshop analyses volunteering role in Angola

Luanda, ANGOLA, October 22 - A National Seminar on Volunteering will be held Friday 25, in Luanda, with the objective of analyzing the role of this segment in Angola and reinforcing the Government's intervention capacity in the preparation of the law on the subject.,

The event is organized by the Secretary for Social Area of ​​the President's Civil House, in partnership with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), under the motto “Volunteering, a form of solidarity with the community”.

A press release from the Auxiliary Bodies of the President of the Republic, distributed to Angop Tuesday, indicates that the seminar also aims to strengthen the Government's capacity to intervene in the National Volunteering Policy, to collect contributions on the strategic documents in preparation and to strengthen the dialogue for the better articulation in volunteering, aiming at social development.

It indicates that the National Volunteering Seminar is the result of various actions taken by the Government's, such as the proposed Volunteering Law and the National Volunteering Policy.

The draft law aims at the legal recognition of volunteering and the consequent creation of favorable conditions for its development, as a rewarding experience that enables everyone to integrate the community and contribute to a social cause, especially in the areas of health care, education and reduction of illiteracy, aid to peasants, promotion of human rights and community development.

The National Volunteering Policy proposal defines the State's commitment to the promotion of volunteering and lists the objectives to be achieved, the fundamental principles and the set of actions and guidelines that must be developed by the Government's and the social partners and actors in four pillars namely Regulation, Conditions Creation, Promotion and Awareness and Community Action.

The meeting will be attended by representatives of ministerial departments, provincial governments, parliamentary groups, social science specialists, religious institutions, civil society organizations, academic institutions, professional orders, political parties, international institutions and embassy representatives.

The seminar, which is due to take place Friday morning, is followed by a round table on the same day on the theme Volunteer Experiences, namely the United Nations, the NGO Mosaico (Catholic Church), the Private Sector (Standard Bank ), Volunteering in Angola since 1976 up to date, the International Committee of the Red Cross and Red Crescent.
