COLORADO JOINS THE ALLIANCE FOR INNOVATION ON MATERNAL HEALTH (AIM)

DENVER, CO – In Colorado, maternal death rates have been rising and 80% of those deaths have been determined preventable. In response to this crisis facing Colorado’s moms and babies, Colorado Perinatal Care Quality Collaborative (CPCQC) is thrilled to announce that our state has joined the national Alliance for Innovation on Maternal Health (AIM). CPCQC is the lead organization of this statewide effort.

With funding from the Health Resource Services Administration, AIM aligns national, state, and hospital level efforts to improve maternal health and safety. AIM’s specific strategies include broad partnerships, tools and technical assistance, implementation and training, real time data, building on existing initiatives, and specific bundle incremental adoption.

The AIM program will provide evidence based front line resources for birthing facilities and provider/public health teams to adapt and implement a series of action steps on high-risk maternal conditions to improve care processes and patient outcomes. Initially, participating Colorado hospitals will implement the Safe Reduction of Primary Cesarean Birth Maternal Safety Bundle, one of several AIM Patient Safety Bundles. Additional patient safety bundles will be prioritized and implemented in the coming months.

An informational luncheon is set for June 24th from 12:00p.m. to 2:00p.m. at 101 Monroe St. Denver, CO 80206. This is an opportunity to hear from AIM and CPCQC leadership about the work ahead, resources available, and how hospitals can engage in the program. This luncheon is open to all and anyone interested can RSVP by clicking here or emailing info@cpcqc.org for more information. If your hospital is interested in participating and unable to attend the information session, please contact us to discuss a potential site visit.

About CPCQC: Colorado Perinatal Care Quality Collaborative (CPCQC) is a statewide nonprofit network of hospitals, healthcare facilities, clinicians and public health professionals that improves the health of women and infants through continuous quality improvement.
