Japanese Foreign minister arrives in Luanda

Luanda, ANGOLA, May 3 - The Foreign Affairs minister of Japan, Taro Kono, arrived in Luanda last Thursday evening for a 24-hour official visit, in the ambit of the reinforcement of the bilateral co-operation.,

At the 4 de Fevereiro International Airport, in Luanda, the Japanese diplomat was welcomed by the Angolan secretary of State for Co-operation, Domingos Vieira Lopes, who represented Foreign minister Manuel Augusto.  

 

According to the work agenda distributed to the media, Taro Kono is to be received in an audience, on Friday morning, by the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço.     

 

The Japanese Foreign minister is also to have a private meeting with his Angolan counterpart, Manuel Augusto.

 

The two officials are to chair the official conversations between ministerial delegations of the two countries.

 

Still as part of his work agenda, the Japanese diplomat is to visit the Josina Machel Hospital and the National Museum of Military History, both in Luanda.

 

Angola and Japan hold solid co-operation relations, especially in the ambit of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD).

 

In 2018, the Angolan Foreign minister, Manuel Augusto, participated in a ministerial meeting that prepared TICAD VII, whose gathering is scheduled for the present year in Yokohama, Japan.

 

Taro Kono is due to return to his country on Saturday.
