Huambo, ANGOLA, April 30 - Ministry of Justice and Human Rights pledges to beef up efforts to crack down on corruption and bribery in the sector, having dealt with 71 disciplinary proceedings since April 2018. ,

 

 

The pledge came from the incumbent minister, Francisco Queirós, while speaking on Monday in central Huambo province.

 

He said that the proceedings led to penalties, ranging from 24 workers made redundant, three downgrading, nine fines and 32 admonitions.

 

Addressing an opening 14^th Consultative Council of the Justice Ministry, the minister announced that the sector will take more relentless measures to deter this kind of behaviour.

 

Among the measures, he mentioned regular auditing in several areas and criminal responsibility of offenders.

 

The official recalled the recent awareness campaign held by the sector, with focus on the issues related to bribery, corruption, conflict of interest, nepotism, influence peddling and code of conduct. 

The minister also made reference to the training of 60 judicial magistrates of Public Prosecutor’s Office and agents of Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) in the fields of money laundering, combat funding of terrorism, corruption and drug trafficking.
