CCCS Announces Selection of Three New Board Members

Denver, CO, April 22, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Colorado Community College System is proud to announce three new members have joined our state board and a current member has been reappointed. All four individuals are outstanding leaders who are committed to innovation, excellence, and the communities that we serve.

Please welcome these extremely experienced new members to our Board.

·         Pres Askew has been reappointed to a second full term (Unaffiliated, District 7)
·         Dr. Landon Mascarenaz has been appointed to a full term to replace Ken Weil (Democrat, District 1)  
·         Terrance McWilliams has been appointed to a full term to replace Jim Johnson (Republican, District 5)
·         Hanna Skandera has been appointed to fill the unexpired term of Theresa Peña (Republican, District 1)

The Colorado Communuty College System is governed by an 11-member board called the State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education (SBCCOE) who serve staggered four-year terms, and they are charged with not only overseeing the mission and vision of our 13 community colleges and system office, but also the distribution of federal and state funding that go to secondary and postsecondary schools for career and technical education (CTE). All of the board members are appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the State Senate. The members reflect Colorado’s seven congressional districts, plus two at-large members.

The board also dedicates a seat to a community college faculty member and a student representative who serve in non-voting capacities for one year each.
