CETA Trade and Gender Workshop
Canada Brussels, 1 April 2019
The European Commission and the Mission of Canada to the European Union are organising a CETA Trade and Gender Workshop.
The event is organised in the context of CETA Joint Committee Recommendation on Trade and Gender. The objective is to learn from women-led businesses about their experiences under the Canada Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) and to discuss potential activities to encourage women’s participation in the international trade.
Background
The European Union (EU) - CETA is a progressive trade agreement that upholds and promotes shared values of the European Union and Canada. This landmark agreement was signed on 30 October 2016 and entered into force provisionally on 21 September 2017.
Canada and the EU subsequently have agreed on a joint recommendation on Trade and Gender, which seeks to increase women’s access to and benefit from the opportunities created by CETA.
