General Hospital resumes cataract surgeries
Luanda, ANGOLA, February 17 - The General Hospital of Luanda resumes surgery cycles for patients with cataracts on Saturday, February 17, announced the director of the hospital, Carlos Zeca, on Saturday in the Angolan capital.,
Speaking to the press, at the end of a visit by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, to that hospital, he explained that the process will run until February 23 and is expected to perform 400 surgeries to cataracts.
He clarified, however, that priority will be given to patients who participated in the screening process in 2018, when about 200 surgeries were carried out, out of the 719 consultations, with the cooperation of Spanish doctors.
This will be the fifth time that foreign medical specialists come to Angola for this purpose, after having already done so in 2014, 2015 and 2018 (Luanda) and 2016 (Namibe).
The campaign is supported by the Elena Barraquer Foundation, Oshen Healthcare and ABO Capital, institutions committed to the development of health care services and infrastructures in the countries where they operate, particularly in the Angolan capital, where they hold the International Medical Center (CMI).
