President Al-Sisi promises AU financial restructuring

Addis Ababa, ANGOLA, February 11 - The President of Egypt and now the chairman of the African Union (AU), Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, pledged on Sunday in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to do all for the structural and financial reform of the continental organization. ,

The African Union has a total budget of USD 681. 4 million for 2019, but more than 50 per cent of the amount is supported by funding from international partners, a situation that the new AU head wants to change through the active contribution of member states.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 32nd Summit of Heads of State and Government of the African Union, which is taking place at the organization's headquarters in Addis Ababa, Al-Sisi said that it is essential to move from the decisions taken to actions, so as to satisfy the expectations of the peoples of the continent.

The Egyptian Head of State, who began his speech with a greeting to everyone present in the name of God, said that if the AU member countries are united, Africa will be a world power, reason why he has called for the re-launch of policies such as post-conflict development.

In line with the guidelines for the development of the continent and the well-being of its citizens, Al-Sisi highlighted the promotion of employment and opportunities for youth, the fight against terrorism, combating climate change and others.
