Angola, Italy strengthen cooperation

Luanda, ANGOLA, February 7 - Angola and Italy signed on Wednesday, in Luanda, a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at bolstering the economic cooperation between the two nations. ,

The agreement was signed by the director of Angola’s Finance Ministry Exchange Department, Manuel Pedro, and the representative of an Italian financial institution (Cassa Depositi e Prestiti), Antonella Baldina.

 

The deal was signed under the three-day official visit to Angola of the Italian President, Sérgio Mattarella.

 

The memo aims at promoting the strengthening of economic and commercial cooperation in several sectors, such as tourism, agribusiness, fishing and energy, whose main focus is the development of renewable energies.  

 

It is also intended to develop integrated projects for sustainable agricultural output, manufacturing and food distribution to increase Angola’s agro-food self-sufficiency and reduce imports.   

 

Speaking to the press following the signing of the agreement, the Italian minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Enzo Moavero, said the memo will enable to follow Angola’s development and the fulfilment of existing deals.

 

However, said the Italian minister, Italy is also interested in strengthening cooperation in the cultural sector, which according to him, is one of the fields that needs to be exploited.
