MPLA to hold an extraordinary congress in 2019

Luanda, ANGOLA, January 25 - MPLA, ruling party in Angola, will hold an Extraordinary Congress this year that will define the strategy of that political force to the local elections scheduled for 2020 in the country.,

The decision was made during the 1st Regular Meeting of the Political Bureau, held this Friday in Luanda, under the guidance of MPLA President João Lourenço.

The final communiqué of the meeting, to which Angop had access, does not specify the date of the conclave.

At the session, the Political Bureau approved the Political Agenda of the MPLA for 2019, a document which contains the political actions and fundamental orientations of this party, to be released on February 2 in Luanda.

The Political Bureau approved the resolutions concerning the convening and holding of the extraordinary conferences of the MPLA, in the provinces of Cuanza Norte, Cuanza Sul and Luanda, for the election of their respective first secretaries.

In the face of this, he accepted the candidatures of Adriano Mendes de Carvalho (for Cuanza Norte), Job Pedro Castelo Capapinha (Cuanza Sul) and Sérgio Luther Rescova Joaquim (Luanda), respectively.

 

The Political Bureau also approved the MPLA Communication Strategy for 2018/2021, as a political orientation instrument, adjusted to the current context of greater media openness and the influence of social networks.

On the occasion of the 443rd anniversary of the founding of the city of Luanda, the capital of the Republic of Angola, which is marked this Friday 25th of January, the MPLA's Political Bureau warmly congratulate citizens and encourages its political and administrative authorities to continue to engage in proximity governance.
