Kinshasa, ANGOLA, January 24 - Angola is among the countries invited to the inauguration ceremony of Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo as the new president of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), said last Wednesday the source of the Angolan Embassy in Kinshasa.,

The inauguration was initially set for last Tuesday and was postponed for logistical and organizational reasons.

The inauguration ceremony will take place on Thursday in the Congolese capital, four days after the Constitutional Court announced the finalresults of the general elections held on 30 December 2018.

The invitation addressed to Angola follows the message of congratulations that the Angolan President, João Lourenço, addressed last Tuesday to Mr Tshisekedi, wishing him "the greatest successes in the performance of the noble and difficult mission entrusted to him by the Congolese people."

Foreign minister Manuel Augusto left Thursday morning for DR Congo to attend the inauguration of president-elect Félix Tshisekedi.

Tshisekedi, 55, was proclaimed winner of the presidential ballot on 31 December last year with 38.57 percent of the votes, against 34.83 percent of his main opponent, Martin Fayulu Madidi, and 23.84 percent of Emmanuel Ramazani Shadary, the candidate of the coalition led by the ruling party, the PPRD, of the outgoing president, Joseph Kabila Kabange.

On the other hand, these results were contested by Mr Fayulu, who accused the Constitutional Court of forging them and contradicting the truth of the ballot box, calling for the non-recognition of Tshisekedi by the Congolese people and the international community for alleged illegitimacy.

In response to the congratulatory messages arriving in the Congolese capital for the election of Tshisekedi, the president-elect urged African states to refrain from what he called "encouragement of fraud".

However, there has not yet been any nationwide initiative to organize demonstrations defended by Martin Fayulu, while messages of congratulations and recognition of Tshisekedi from several African states continue to reach in Kinshasa.
