Clarivate Analytics named 24 researchers at the Department of Energy's Pacific Northwest National Laboratory to its annual list of most highly cited researchers. The list recognizes world-class researchers for their exceptional scientific influence as evidenced by production of multiple highly cited papers.

The analysis recognizes influential scientists who rank in the top one percent when it comes to other researchers citing their studies. A citation is evidence that the research is considered important by one's peers and serves as an important building block for other scientists to make additional discoveries.

Clarivate Analytics is a global leader in providing trusted insights and analytics to accelerate the pace of innovation.  It analyzed the Web of Science, which is an online, subscription-based scientific citation indexing service that provides a comprehensive citation search.

This year, Clarivate Analytics introduced a cross-field category to identify researchers with substantial influence across several fields. The analysis encompasses research cited in papers from 2006 through 2016.

PNNL researchers are included in categories that underscore PNNL's strengths in chemistry, earth sciences and data analytics. These highly cited researchers support, influence, inspire and challenge researchers around the world in the following areas.
