Hoyer Statement on House Passage of Legislation to End the Trump Shutdown
“Tonight, the Democratic-led House passed legislation to end the Trump shutdown and reopen the government. Now it is up to Leader McConnell to bring it to the Senate Floor and President Trump to sign it. On December 11, President Trump sat in the Oval Office and declared to the American people that he would be proud to shut down the government if he didn’t get his way, holding 800,000 federal employees and the American people they serve hostage. Nobody has any doubt about who started this shutdown. Tonight, House Democrats made it clear who is working to end it."
