Vice President highlights governance programme

Luanda, ANGOLA, December 29 - Angola's Vice President Bornito de Sousa said the challenges related to the implementation of the government 2018-2022 programme is taking the first steps. ,

 

The Vice President’s view based on the general positive opinion by national and international press and that of the citizens on new governance policy in Angola.

 

Speaking at President João Lourenço’s year-end greetings ceremony, Bornito de Souse said he believes that many aspects will remain at the top of government priority.

 

He mentioned macroeconomic management and economic diversification, with focus on  agro-industry, construction, tourism, economic diplomacy, tax administration, banking, private sector dynamism, employment and good governance.

 

Also deserving attention combat corruption, repatriation of capital, parliamentary supervision on the actions of Executive, State reforms, including the security and defence system.

 

Others areas include those of integrated municipal management, national reconciliation, local governments, human rights and constitutional freedoms.

 

The Vice President also referred to some progresses in the area of ​​parliamentary supervision over executive action and improved performance and proper exercise of press freedom and objective media criticism.

He also said the press, civil society and citizens in general play a key role in denouncing practices undermining general interests.

 

Bornito de Sousa praised the ongoing rescue operation, aimed to put an end to misleading  and even criminal behavior.

 

During the ceremony, the Angolan head of State João Lourenço, along with his wife, Ana Dias Lourenço, socialised with members of the Executive, MPs, representatives of civil society and other personalities.
