At the 4 de Fevereiro International Airport the Head of State was bid farewell by the Vice President of the Republic, Bornito de Sousa, the Provincial Governor of Luanda, Adriano Mendes de Carvalho, government officials, among other personalities.
According to a note issued by the Civil House of the Head of State, the summit is an initiative of Congolese President Denis Sassou Nguesso, who has been leading the International Conference for the Great Lakes Region since the end of last year.
For this meeting, one of the highlights will be the preparation of the electoral process in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The DRC is to hold general elections on the 30th of this month, which were scheduled for 23 December.
International election observers in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) reiterated in Kinshasa their commitment to remain in solidarity with the Congolese people throughout the electoral process until the elections are held.
