CPLP Executive Secretary in Luanda
Luanda, ANGOLA, December 20 - The Executive Secretary of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), Maria do Carmo Silveira, arrived last Wednesday evening in Luanda for a 48-hour working visit, in the ambit of the reinforcement of the co-operation between the organisation and Angola. ,
Maria do Carmo Silveira – who makes this visit under the invitation of the Angolan Foreign minister – is in this southern African country to dialogue with the local authorities on current pertinent issues, including the challenges and perspectives facing the organisation, as well as to present her farewell greetings.
“This is a courtesy and farewell visit, since I am about to finish my mandate (at the helm of the CPLP), I could not end it without visiting Angola in such capacity”, she emphasised to journalists at the 4 de Fevereiro International Airport, in Luanda.
The CPLP chief’s visit agends includes an audience with the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, and with Foreign minister Manuel Augusto.
“In these meetings we’ll certainly speak about the CPLP and also about the perspectives of the Angolan presidency over this organ which it is to take over in 2020 from Cape Verde”, she said.
The CPLP comprises Angola, Brazil, Cabo Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, São Tomé e Príncipe, East-Timor and Equatorial-Guinea.
