Parliament Speaker returns home

Luanda, ANGOLA, December 10 - The Speaker of the National Assembly (Parliament), Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, arrived in the country’s capital last Saturday evening after attending in Mozambique the 44th Plenary Assembly of the SADC Parliamentary Forum (SADC-PF), which happened from 03 to 07 December in Maputo. ,

At the 4 de Fevereiro International Airport, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, who did not speak to journalists, was welcomed back home by the First Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Emília Carlota Dias, and other state personalities.

 

The Maputo meeting, among other aspects, analyse the transformation of the SADC-PF into a Regional Parliament and was operated the handover of the institution’s chair from Angola to Mozambique.  

 

The event was debated the institution’s 2019/2023Strategic Programme.

 

The Southern African Development Community (SADC) Parliamentary Forum was created in the year 1997 in Blantyre City, Malawi.

 

The SADC-PF is focused on the promotion of human rights and democracy in the region, among other aspects.
