UNITA encourages Rescue Operation

Cuito, ANGOLA, December 9 - Angola?s major opposition UNITA party has encouraged the Angolan government to continue with "Rescue Operation", but it called on those involved to change the way of acting. ,

The appeal was made by the party’s inspector-general Esteve Pena Camy in Cuito, central Bie province, when addressing a massive political event that marked the closing of the party’s political year.

Esteve Pena Camy said that his party does not oppose to the  operation dubbed "Operação Resgate" Rescue Operation, under way in the country.

The politician added that UNTA defends improvement in the way the government deals with such operation, in order to avoid disrupting the activity of the citizens who depend on the precarious trade.

In his view, prior to the commencement of the Operation, the government should have created the necessary conditions to accommodate the unlicensed activities or companies.

Meanwhile, he said, the government should focus on a permanent dialogue with citizens to share opinions and have a peaceful solution to any conflicts.

"We are aware that" Rescue Operation "was launched to restore authority, but we need to ponder over the matter in to negatively avoid disrupting the people’s lives," he concluded.
