Norwegian Prime Minister visits Angola
Luanda, ANGOLA, December 3 - The Prime Minister of Norway, Erna Solberg, arrived on Monday morning in Luanda for a 24-hour official visit at the invitation of the Angolan President, João Lourenço, in the ambit of the reinforcement of the bilateral relations. ,
At the 04 de Fevereiro International Airport, Erna Solberg, who did not speak to the press, was welcomed by the Angolan minister of Foreign Affairs, Manuel Augusto, the provincial governor of Luanda, Adriano Mendes de Carvalho, among other personalities.
According to the visit programme, the Norwegian Premier will be received on Monday by the President João Lourenço, and pay homage to the country’s first president, António Agostinho Neto, by visiting the memorial built in his honour.
The Norwegian stateswoman will attend a luncheon offered to her by the Angolan President and also visit the Centre of Support to Artisanal Fishing, located in Luanda Island.
She is also to participate in a festival of the gastronomy and culture of the two countries, as well as speak at an Angola/Norway Business Forum.
In Africa, Angola is one of Norway’s most important partners, with the two countries having a strong co-operation relationship in the areas of oil, energy, fisheries and justice.
The Kingdom of Norway has created a fund of about USD 50 million to invest in Angola’s oil sector.
Angola and Norway established diplomatic relations in the year 1977.
