Huambo, ANGOLA, December 1 - Angolan Interior minister Angelo de Barros da Veiga Tavares Thursday urged the Intelligence Community to play a more active role in combating corruption, nepotism and money laundering.
,
The appeal was made during the central event to mark 43 years of existence of the State Intelligence Organs, on Thursday.
Speaking on behalf of the minister of State and Head of Security Office of President of Republic, Angelo Veiga urged the Intelligence Community to work on identifying the people involved in these practices.
He said identifying the people involved in these practices will help prevent behaviour of this nature from damaging the Angolan State's assets and public finances.
Ângelo da Veiga Tavares considered the role of Intelligence Community very crucial due to a long period of war experienced by the country.
The Organs’ commitment will guarantee territorial integrity, identifying possible attacks and dismantling groups that threaten state security, he said.
In his speech, the Interior minister also said that in times of peace and new governmental vision, with stress to crack down on corruption, nepotism and money laundering, the role of this community is very important, especially now it has available the service tools, not only for the repatriation of capital, but also for the identification of those involved in the practices of these crimes.
