SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 29, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Under the auspices of the Marin County Office of Education, SchoolsRule Marin raises and distributes funds for a variety of enrichment programs to Marin County’s public schools. The concept began eight years ago to raise money for various educational foundations to bring about parity in school programs across the County.

SchoolsRule believes that every student should have access to quality education. The program continues to grow annually, and this year over $888,000 were raised and distributed to school foundations throughout Marin County. Distribution of funds is based on a per student basis and must be used in the areas of literacy, arts, technology and health. SchoolsRule Marin is a coalition of 20 public school foundations working together to benefit every child.

Foundations include Can Do!, LEAP, SPARK, Kiddo, School Fuel, Foundation for Reed Schools, YES, HeadsUp, SOAR and a host of others listed on the website at https://schoolsrule.org/about/what-we-fund/. To date, SchoolsRule Marin has generated funds totaling nearly $3 million.

The program, launched in 2010, was a joint effort between the Marin Independent Journal and the Marin County Superintendent of Schools to support public education as part of the newspaper’s 150^th anniversary celebration. Each year more businesses realize the validity of SchoolsRule Marin and are joining in the program.
