Luanda, ANGOLA, November 20 - Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) authorities have acknowledged Angola's legitimacy in launching "Operation Transparency" on foreign illegal miners. ,

The recognition is expressed in a document released by Interior Ministry sent to Angop Tuesday, which quoted the DRC's Director-General for Migration, François Beya Kasonga.

Speaking at a meeting with Angolan Interior Minister Ângelo da Veiga Tavares on the fringes of the 87th Interpol meeting running until Wednesday in the United Arab Emirates, the Congolese official stated that the Angola's position is legitimate.

According to him, the DRC citizens targeted by operation have voluntarily left when they realized that they were in an irregular situation in the Angolan territory, where they had been engaged in diamond mining.

Delivering his speech, the Angolan Interior minister, Ângelo da Veiga Tavares, clarified in detail the intentions of the Angolan authorities.

Ângelo da Veiga Tavares described as completely false and biased the video footages released whose, according to him, the content undermines the image of Angola.

He informed that the DRC authorities, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ambassador to Angola, have explained the objectives of the operation and how the citizens of his country were being treated.
