Commitment to education is a productive investment - President

Luanda, ANGOLA, November 16 - Angolan head of State João Lourenço Friday considered the commitment to higher education a productive investment, whose the country can reap benefits in the future. ,

 

The president said this at the Agostinho Neto University (UAN) Campus located in urban district of Camama, Luanda.

 

He stressed the fact of this investment to be added to the effort that raise Angola up to the challenges of the century.

 

João Lourenço spoke of the Government’s plans to complete the UAN Campus in a phased manner, under the development plan of infrastructure of the public higher education institutions.

 

As for the creation of better housing conditions, the president expressed the intention to equip the Campus with workshops, laboratories and university hospitals as well as homes to accommodate most needy students and those from remote zones, including other provinces.

 

In his speech, João Lourenço alluded to internal scholarships to support the most needy students, with priority to the engineering, health and computer science courses.

 

The President João Lourenço also urged the business class to allow the best students both from public and private universities to attend internships and integrating them in the labour market.

 

The first phase has been completed with capacity to accommodate 3,000 students.

 

The number is expected to increase to 40,000 after the completion of the remaining phases.

 

The visit of President of Republic to University Campus comes four days after another one he paid to Training Centre of Cazenga and Technological Training Centre (CINFOTEC) of Rangel, in Luanda.
