Angola joins UN committee on budgetary issues
Diplomat at Foreign Affairs Ministry for 17 years, Makiese was elected Friday on the sidelines of the 73rd General Assembly session in Washington, DC, going until December 30 this year.
The counselor Makiese Augusto worked at a Permanent Mission of Angola as a diplomat and at the UN High Commission for Human Rights Office in Geneva.
This is the first time that an Angolan diplomat and of Portuguese Speaking African Countries (PALOP) has been elected to that body in the 73 years of the United Nations General Assembly.
ACABQ was established by Resolution 14 (1) of 13 February 1946 and tasked with examining and supervising the proposed General Budget of the United Nations submitted by the Secretary General.
