Luanda, ANGOLA, October 31 - The ruling MPLA party defends that the transfer of competences from ministerial departments to the provincial governments is fundamentally aimed at empowering the municipalities in terms of financial, material and human resources. ,

Through a press note issued last Tuesday, the MPLA explains that the transfer of competences – whose initial act took place last Monday, in a ceremony attended by head of the Civil Office of the Angolan President, Frederico Cardoso, and the minister of Territory Administration and State Reform, Adão de Almeida – is aimed at improving the way municipal administrations deal with the various problems faced by the citizens.

 

The ruling party stresses that such a move is intended to consolidate the spirit of administrative decentralisation, whose high point will be the holding of the first local elections, scheduled to happen in the year 2020.   

 

The ruling party deems this act historical, which happens as a materialisation of the government’s premise of finding more efficacious solutions to the problems of the citizens.  

 

Thus, the MPLA encourages the Executive to continue to pursue the goals outlined in its National Development programme (PDN 2018-2022).

 

The ruling party manifests its conviction that in the coming times Angola will record a radical change in the way it applies financial resources allocated to the municipalities, especially the funds for the social sector.
