Police destroy explosive devices in Cunene

Ondjiva, ANGOLA, October 17 - At least 18,798 unexploded ordnance (UXO) were destroyed on Wednesday in the municipality of Namacunde (Cunene) by the demining brigade of the Border Guard Police.,

Among the devices are six anti-personnel landmines, two anti-tank mines, 11 detonators, 85 mortars, 31 grenades, 29 M-82 mm fighting heads, four anti-tank mine fuzes, 12 miscellaneous weapons, 18,279 ammunition and various metals.

The devices were located and deactivated between January and July this year, in the municipalities of Cuanhama, Ombadja, Cahama and Namacunde, according to the spokesman of the National Police in Cunene, Nicolau Tuvecalela.
