ANGOLA, October 10 -  

The move followed a recommendation that emerged from the meeting of the governors of Cabinda (Angola) and the departments of Point Noire, Kouilou and Niary (Republic of Congo), held between 8 and 9 October.

The parties, at the meeting held in Angola's northern Cabinda province, agreed to recover the deprecated landmarks and find the other ones.

They recommended the subcommittee on defense and security to work on the permanent exchange of information.

The  objective is to strengthening security measures and fight against cross-border crime, illegal immigration, trafficking and smuggling of fuel, goods, drugs, weapons and counterfeit medicines.

At the meeting, the governor of Cabinda, Eugénio Laborinho, said that both countries focus on ensuring the stability and security of their peoples, by creating conditions for the well-being of their peoples.

Laborino highlighted the free movement of people and goods on the border between Angola and Congo, calling on joint border defence and security commissions to resume the work.

In turn, the Mayor of Kouilou Department, Honoré Paka praised the ties between Angola and Republic of the Congo and the commitment of the two countries’ presidents to the peace and development of the African continent.

The meeting was attended by officials of the military, police, immigration and customs departments.
