UNITA reiterates support for combat corruption

Menongue, ANGOLA, October 6 - The leader of Angola's major opposition UNITA party Isaías Samakuva Friday in south-east Cuando Cubango province reiterated his party's support for the head of State João Lourenço in the fight against corruption and other evils that undermine the country’s governance. ,

 

The politician was addressing the party's militants who flocked to Comandante Kwenha airport, as part of a one-week visit to assess the social and political situation of the region.

 

Samakuva stated that Unita's support is not restricted to crackdown on corruption, but on change of mentality of the rulers and citizens in general, so that corruption and other evils are fought.

 

 "It is necessary that people begin changing the way of living, thinking and looking at each other with solidarity. Today this principle no longer exist, he argued, calling for the urgent need to change this paradigm.

 

On the other hand, Unita president defended creation of quality universities in Angola that enable national citizens, once trained, to contribute to the development of the country.

 

He said that apart from fighting against corruption and put offenders behind bars, the government should work on changing the mentality of citizens in general.
