Gazprom and Fortum discuss ongoing construction of Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline

A working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, and Pekka Lundmark, President and CEO of Fortum, took place today at the 8th St. Petersburg International Gas Forum.

The parties discussed the ongoing and future cooperation, focusing on, inter alia, the status of joint efforts in the power sector.

Attention was also paid to the Nord Stream 2 project. Alexey Miller and Pekka Lundmark discussed the ongoing construction of the gas pipeline, stressing the project’s importance and timeliness in terms of the stability of gas supplies to European consumers in the long term.

Background

The 8th St. Petersburg International Gas Forum is being held as part of the Russian Energy Week International Forum.

Fortum is a Finnish energy concern that owns 29.5 per cent of TGC-1 (part of the Gazprom Energoholding Group). In 2018, Fortum acquired a 47.35 per cent stake in Uniper SE (including a 47.12 per cent stake in the share of E.ON).

Nord Stream 2 is the construction project for a gas pipeline with the annual capacity of 55 billion cubic meters from Russia to Germany across the Baltic Sea.
