Angola and Namibia to discuss defense and security issues

Luanda, ANGOLA, September 9 - Defense and security issues will dominate the 20th meeting of the Angolan-Namibian Joint Commission from 10 to 13 September in the Angolan city of Lubango, province of Huíla.,

The event aims to analyze the deliberations and recommendations of the 19th meeting of the commission held in October 2015 in the city of Swakopmund, Republic of Namibia, as well as to envisage future actions of bilateral interest in these areas.

According to a press note from the Ministry of National Defense,  the ministerial meeting will take place on the 12th of this month and the Angolan delegation will be guided by the Minister of Interior, Ângelo da Veiga Tavares.

The work of the Angola-Namibia Joint Defense and Security Commission begins with the experts meeting on Monday (10).

Angola and Namibia have been cooperating for more than 20 years in a wide range of areas, with emphasis on energy and water, agriculture, transport, education, defense and security, health, among others.
