Angola's action gets positive assessment from U.N
Beijing, ANGOLA, September 4 - Angola's action in the international framework and in the defence of multilateralism last Monday received a positive assessment from the Secretary-General of the United Nations (U.N), António Guterres.,
The U.N boss spoke to the press in Beijing, China, after a meeting with the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, and a few hours before the start of the Third China-Africa Co-operation Summit.
“We had an excellent conversation about various issues and the co-ordination between the United Nations and Angola is fundamental for us”, said António Guterres in a short statement to journalists.
In the international framework, Angola has been focusing on preventive diplomacy, resolution of conflicts and it is a defender of a sustainable development through the promotion of investments and international co-operation.
This is the second time, in less than one year, that the two officials hold a talk. In November last year, João Lourenço and António Guterres held a meeting on the sidelines of the Fifth Summit between the African Union and the European Union, in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire.
On the occasion, the UN Secretary-General highlighted the role of Angola in the efforts of peace maintenance, stability in Southern Africa and the Great Lakes region.
