Huambo, ANGOLA, August 29 - The draft-law on Freedom of Religion, Belief and Cult, analysed last Tuesday by the Cabinet Council gathered in Huambo City, central province with the same name, outlines stricter prerequisites for a religious denomination to be legalised in Angola. ,

This information was given last Tuesday, in Huambo City, by the Culture minister, Carolina Cerqueira, on an interview to journalists in the end of the Cabinet Council meeting chaired by President João Lourenço.  

 

She explained that although the draft-law reduces the number of necessary signatures for a religious denomination to be legalised, it is also stricter in aspects like who is entitled to be a pastor, in which languages should the religious services take place and which issues to tackle.     

 

The charging of monetary amounts in churches is also another issue regulated in the draft-law, which is yet to be submitted to the National Assembly.

 

Thus, Carolina Cerqueira defended that this new legislation will put an end to attitudes that harm social and family stability.
