GENESEO, N.Y., UNITED STATES, August 27, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ -- GENESEO, N.Y. – Cottone Auctions’ upcoming Fine Art & Antique Auction, slated for Saturday, September 29th, will feature an extensive variety of first-time offerings, including the impressive collection of Dr. Gregory Alan Zemenick, an orthopedic surgeon from Troy, Michigan with a passion for collecting Americana, Tiffany lamps and antiques spanning a wide range of interests.

The auction will start at 12 noon Eastern time. The Cottone Auctions gallery is located at 120 Court Street in Geneseo, southwest of Rochester. For those unable to attend the auction live and in person, internet bidding will be facilitated by LiveAuctioneers.com, Invaluable.com and the Cottone website, www.live.cottoneauctions.com. Dr. Zemenick is known affectionately in the antique world as “Dr. Z”. Highlighting his vast collection is a stunning 18-inch Tiffany Oriental Poppy table lamp (est. $60,000-$80,000); a Tiffany Studios Dichroic leaded glass table lamp (est. $7,000-$10,000); a Tiffany Studios 10-light Lily lamp (est. $10,000-$15,000), and a Jewel & Feather table lamp (est. $6,000-$10,000).

Americana will feature several Cigar Store Indians, with the expected top earner being a Princess attributed to Thomas Brooks (est. $15,000-$20,000), plus folk art and an array of whaling items.

Several antique and vintage clocks will cross the auction block, to include an Eli Terry shelf clock made from carved mahogany, with rare lion, unicorn and coat of arms crest; a Simon Willard patent banjo clock; a George Stevens three-dial tower clock; a Gale’s astronomical regulator; several Massachusetts shelf clocks; and Bradley & Hubbard blinking eye clocks.

At the conclusion of the Zemenick portion of the sale, a diverse selection of fine Tiffany lamps, paintings, silver, Americana, Oriental rugs, Asian items and decorative items will be auctioned.

Tiffany Studios lamps will include a Nasturtium lamp with 22-inch diameter shade (est. $60,000- $80,000); a lovely Arrowroot table lamp with 20-inch diameter shade (est. $35,000-$45,000); and a jeweled Dogwood table lamp with a shade 16 inches in diameter (est. $20,000-$40,000).

A stunning 5.18-carat fancy vivid yellow diamond and diamond ring carrying an estimate of $100,000- $150,000 will headline the jewelry category, along with a Heuer, Abercrombie & Fitch Co. stainless steel Seafarer chronograph wristwatch (est. $7,000-$10,000). A superb Cartier pink Guilloche enameled travel clock, estimated at $7,000-10,000, will also come up for bid.

Multiple French paintings will be offered from the estate of Richard Garman in East Aurora, N.Y. These will include a painting by Edouard-Léon Cortès (French, 1882-1969) titled Flower Seller at La Madeleine (est. $15,000- $25,000); and a work by Thérèse Marthe Françoise Cotard-Dupré (French, 1877-1921), titled Le Gardeuse d'oie, expected to hammer for $20,000-$40,000.

Ralph Cahoon’s (Am., 1910-1982) painting, Seaman's Bethel (est. 15,000-$25,000), comes from the Seymour H. Knox II Collection in Buffalo, N.Y. Another featured American painting will be William Langson Lathrop’s (1859-1938) October Evening, winner of the Temple Gold Medal from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in 1922. It should command $20,000-$40,000.

Other paintings will include an oil on canvas by Guy Carleton Wiggins (American, 1883-1962), titled Winter at the Plaza (est. $20,000-$40,000); and an oil painting by Alexander Oscar Levy (American, 1881-1947), titled Chippewa Market, 39 inches by 39 inches (est. $10,000-$15,000).

First time offering of 20th century paintings will include Sam Francis’ (American, 1923 - 1994) work Tokyo, estimated $40,000-$60,000, purchased in 1974 from the Jewitt family in East Aurora, N.Y.; as well as Claude Venard’s (French, 1913-1999) painting titled Aux Pommes, estimated to finish at $2,000-$4,000, from the collection of Hy Kreitzman in Rochester, N.Y.

A figurative winged sculpture by Dame Elisabeth Frink, R.A. (British, 1930-1993) is expected to knock down for $10,000-$15,000. Frink was a British sculptor and printmaker, known for her expression of form often depicting men, animals or religious imagery. The three essential themes in her artwork were the nature of Man, the “horseness” of horses and the divine human form.

Americana will be highlighted by a rare Gustav Dentzel (Philadelphia, Pa.) 'Jumper' carousel horse estimated to bring $15,000-$25,000, manufactured circa 1900 with outstanding original paint from Roseland Park in Canandaigua, New York and purchased by the estate around 1986.

Rounding out the sale will be an Asian collection from a New York family featuring a Chinese carved zitan 'Scholar' table screen with imperial poem (est. $10,000-15,000); an underglaze blue and copper-red 'Immortals' bowl (est. $6,000-$8,000), and other scrolls, screens and ceramics.
