Govt recommends Red Cross's commitment to development
Luanda, ANGOLA, August 23 - Angola's Vice President Bornito de Sousa Thursday in Luanda recommended the Angolan Red Cross (CVA) to get together and play a relevant role in the country's current process of transformation and sustainable development.
,
This was during the IV General Assembly of CVA, on behalf of the head of state João Lourenço, who is also honorary president of the organisation.
He said to hope the institution took part in the implementation of various projects based on 2018/2022 national development plan and in the sustainable development objectives 2030.
Bornito de Sousa recalled the CVA's role, as a partner of the State and society, in hard times of war and natural disasters.
He added that the institution also conducted relevant actions, mainly in the areas of health, social and humanitarian assistance, volunteering, sports and family reunification.
The vice president endorsed the appeal by the Angolan Head of State during his inauguration ceremony in which he invited civil society organisations to step up civic action and their relationship with State organs, contributing to the design and implementation of consensual public policies.
He believes that the IV General Assembly, which ends on Friday and elects the new governing bodies, will mark a new functional cycle, having recommended seriousness, unselfishness and teamwork.
Bornito de Sousa encouraged cooperation to revive the association based on humanism and acts in impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntariness, unity and universality.
