Country still with excessive centralisation - govt official

Luanda, ANGOLA, August 20 - Angola still has a very centralised culture, in terms of the functioning of its Public Administration, which makes process still very bureaucratic, said last Sunday, in Luanda, the secretary of State for State Reform, Márcio Daniel. ,

The government official made such consideration when providing some clarification to the faithful of the Faith and Liberation Ministry (MFL) Church about the preparation process of the first local elections and the importance of administrative decentralisation.

To him, it is crucial that the cadres and human resources found in the Ministries be re-located to the municipal administrations.

According to Márcio Daniel, such a re-location of cadres is a very challenging move, since basic conditions must be created first at that grassroots level so that the cadres can go to any municipal administration.

“To confer autonomy we’ll reinforce decentralisation by making the municipal administrations function with more competences”, he informed.

The first local elections in Angolan are scheduled to take place in the year 2020, as recommended last March by the members of the Council of the Republic.
