Uíge, ANGOLA, August 2 - The president of the Supreme Court (TS), Rui Ferreira, demanded greater celerity in the processing and instruction of the probation requests, in progress in the Uíge Provincial Court.,

At the base of the demand is a large number of outstanding probation applications, which according to Rui Ferreira represent more than half of the requests made to that court.

Regarding the cases of pre-trial detention, the magistrate who finished Wednesday a work visit to the region, reaffirmed the inexistence of worrying situations.

The Supreme Court is the highest court of ordinary jurisdiction in the country.

A Court of Appeal should be installed in the city of Uíge, province of the same name, within the framework of the Reform of Justice and Law in progress in the country.

According to Rui Ferreira, who was speaking  at a meeting with the provincial governor, Pinda Simão, and members of the local government, after the installation of the Court, appeals concerning the provinces of Uíge, Malanje and Zaire will be assessed in Uíge.

He announced the creation of four district courts, in Uíge that will have the same powers of the Provincial Court.

The measure is part of the process of decentralizing the services of the Administration of Justice and bringing them closer to the communities.
