President expected Tuesday in Cape Verde for CPLP Summit
Luanda, ANGOLA, July 16 - Angolan head of State João Lourenço is expected in Cape Verde Tuesday to attend the 12th Summit of Heads of State of the Portuguese Speaking Countries Community (CPLP) set for Tuesday and Wednesday in island of Sal.

The Conference, which comprises CPLP Heads of State and/ or Government from member states, is tasked with defining and guiding the general policy and strategies.
It also adopts legal instruments necessary for the implementation of the present Statutes, however, delegate these powers to the Council of Ministers.
The body which meets ordinarily every two years has the competence to create institutions for the proper functioning of the organisation to elect a rotating Chairman for a two-year term as well as the Executive Secretary of the CPLP.
