Angola "adopts" crime prevention fronts

Luanda, ANGOLA, July 4 - Angola "adopted" four fronts for the prevention of crime, including awareness, protection, criminalization of perpetrators and partnership, said Wednesday the Secretary of State for Human Rights and Citizenship, Ana Celeste Cardoso Januário.,

 

The Secretary of State said so when speaking at the workshop on "protection of victims of human trafficking", which runs from 4 to 5 July in the country's capital.

 

The meeting aims to assess, among other things, the progress of the projects of the law on protection of victims, identify priority areas for cooperation between the UN Regional Office on Drugs (UNODC) and the Angolan government for law development.

 

She explained that in prevention, the Angolan State, in collaboration with civil society, has designed campaigns that are transmitted through the media, distribution of information materials and seek partnerships to raise public awareness about the problem and risk that accompany some promises that can pose as trafficking situation.

 

Regarding responsibility and criminalization, Angola seeks to strengthen justice systems so that criminals will be tried, adding that the Ministry is working to improve legislation.

 

The Secretary of State added that one of the great investments that a country can make is the continuous training of its staff, specifically for those who work directly in the fight against human trafficking.
