MPLA congress readjusts development plan
Luanda, ANGOLA, June 29 - The ruling MPLA party’s Congress is seen as opportunity to set, through open debate, the strategy to readjust Angola's economic and social development plan.

This was said Friday by MPLA president, José Eduardo dos Santos, while addressing the third Extraordinary session of the Central Committee in Luanda.
This strategy is focused on the growth of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and employment, crucial factors to boost the country's inclusive sustainable development.
José Eduardo dos Santos said that the event will mark the completion of the political transition process in the party's presidency.
He highlighted the party's actions aimed at strengthening the unity and cohesion in its ranks, as well as continue to contribute to the consolidation of political stability in the country.
According to MPLA leader, the political stability will guarantee the multifaceted development of Angolan society.
On the other hand, the MPLA president emphasised the party's commitment to consolidation of democracy, highlighting the holding of local elections.
In his speech, José Eduardo dos Santos said that the local elections aimed at building a fairer and more balanced country, through more direct participation of citizens in solution to the problems of communities.
The ruling party leader also recommended the participation of all the militants, supporters and friends of the MPLA in the tasks for the fulfillment of the VI Extraordinary Congress, scheduled for September 8.
The Participants at the event also examined, among other matters, the degree of progress of the preparations for the Extraordinary Congress, the draft resolution on the candidacy of the MPLA Vice-President, João Lourenço, for the post of the party leader.
