VIVED AND ZSPACE ANNOUNCE NEW CHEMISTRY APPLICATION AVAILABLE ON AR/VR PLATFORM

VIVED Chemistry now integrated with zSpace’s immersive learning platform, engaging students through interactive activities that bring chemistry to life

CORALVILLE, IA, UNITED STATES, June 26, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ -- On June 21, 2018, VIVED and zSpace announced a new application that will immerse students in learning chemistry in an AR/VR environment. Students will now have access to the application, VIVED Chemistry on zSpace’s augmented and virtual reality learning platform, along with more than 100 activities and 15 simulations to support Physical Science and Chemistry instruction. The application enables teaching with guided interactive lessons aligned to chemistry course objectives that foster active learning principles using zSpace’s immersive, AR/VR environment.

Using VIVED Chemistry, students and teachers can explore five distinct topics in chemistry: elements, molecules and compounds, inorganic chemistry, crystals, and organic chemistry. VIVED Chemistry was developed by renowned Ph.D. professors from The Semenov Institute of Chemical Physics, Penn State University and the University of Iowa to stimulate understanding in chemistry. These subject matter experts worked alongside a group of cutting-edge technologists to create a curriculum aligned e-learning platform which combines 3D digital representations of chemistry concepts supporting text and formative assessment or quizzing for each activity. Now using a zSpace AR/VR computer, chemistry students can interact with virtual objects using a stylus and 3D tracking glasses.

Chemistry teachers can expect enhanced classroom participation, increased student engagement and deeper comprehension of chemistry topics. Teachers can use the product to author customized content, demonstrating scientific concepts in an effective, grade-appropriate manner. Unlike other virtual reality solutions, such as head-mounted displays, zSpace enables interaction and group collaboration. Best of all, zSpace empowers students to “learn by doing” in an environment where it is easy to undo mistakes and make changes without worrying about material costs or clean up.

“One key area that instructors continually talk about when it comes to chemistry is how difficult it is for students to be able to see what's happening, said Tom Nicknish, president of VIVED. “With this partnership, students can now visualize and understand difficult concepts - which is great for both high school and university coursework. Students and instructors can manipulate and explore the periodic table see molecules from every angle and repeat these 3D simulations again and again until they are fully understood.”

VIVED and zSpace will demonstrate the new applications at ISTE 2018, June 25-27, in Chicago, at zSpace booth #2643.
