Angola to consider two new national holidays

Luanda, ANGOLA, June 13 - The dates January 15 and March 23 could be considered part of Angola?s holidays, if the Parliament approves the draft law that changes the country's law on national and local holidays and celebration dates. ,

January 15, which marks the signing of Alvor Peace Agreement signed in 1974 by the three political forces of Angola namely MPLA, UNITA and FNLA, is currently solely celebrated as the Former Combatants and Veterans of the Motherland Day.

 

As for March 23 refers to the Cuito Canavale Battle in southwest Cuando Cubango province which has been also considered as national celebration date.

 

The approval of the referred dates as national holidays is due to be discussed on June 21 at the National Assembly.
