Angola and Belgium formalise regular consultations

Brussels, ANGOLA, June 5 - A memorandum on bilateral political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Angola and Belgium was signed last Monday in the capital of this West European country. ,

 

This memo outlines regular consultations between the two countries to analyse the state of the bilateral co-operation and other pertinent issues.  

 

The Angolan minister of Foreign Affairs, Manuel Augusto, said in the end of the ceremony that regional issues have special importance in the memorandum.

 

The Belgian Foreign minister, Didier Reynders, said on the occasion “(...) we had talks that analysed several matters of interest for the two states”.

 

At the meeting between both countries’ Foreign ministers it was also analysed the “Brexit” process, as well as the situation in the Great Lakes Region, chiefly in Burundi and DR Congo.

 

Still on Monday, the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, had meetings with King Philip of Belgium, the vice president of the European Union, Federica Mogherini, the European Council head, Donald Tusk, and the general secretary of the Africa Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) group, Patrick Gomes.

 

This Tuesday, President João Lourenço is scheduled to visit Antwerp, a city known internationally for its diamonds dealings and port (one of the world’s biggest).  

 

Angola and Belgium have an Economic, Scientific and Cultural Agreement that was signed on 26 April 1983.
