Justice pledges to issue ID cards despite strike

Luanda, ANGOLA, May 29 - The Ministry of Justice and Human Rights will issue, from this Wednesday, Identity Cards (ID), Criminal Record and conduct marriages in an emergency situation, confirmed today the Secretary of State for Justice, Orlando Fernandes.,

The unilateral decision aims to minimize the effects of the Justice Officers' strike, which began Monday and runs until Friday (01).

The halt, which is recorded throughout the country, rendered unviable trials, issuance of birth certificates, identity cards, personal ballots, release of defendants and other services.

The issue of ID cards and Criminal Records in emergency situations and the celebration of weddings scheduled before the strike will be done in the national directorates of the Civil and Criminal Identification File and the Registries and Notaries, based in the ministry, located in the Upper City.

The newlyweds who have scheduled a wedding for the next weekend should go to the headquarters of the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, to be presented to the three Registry Offices in the city of Luanda that will guide the marriages, he said.

According to the official, the provincial delegates of justice were mobilized to guide the registrar, who did not join the strike, to direct only marriages, and other services may start next week.
