MPs want to increase funds allocated to hospitals

Soyo, ANGOLA, May 29 - The increase in the money allocated to hospitals in the country to meet the needs of drugs and expendable material was defended today in the city of Soyo, Zaire province, by MPs from the MPLA parliamentary bench.,

The coordinator of the MPLA parliamentary follow-up group for the province of Zaire, Paulo Pombolo, who heads the committee of deputies, acknowledged that the budget allocated to hospitals is very small to meet the numerous needs they face due to the demographic growth of the regions.

Paulo Pombolo believes that an accurate work is needed to improve the financial condition of the health units, in order to meet the real health needs of the populations.

For the deputy, the willingness and readiness of the health workers to provide quality work must be matched with the financial component in order to avoid the lack of medicines and other means indispensable for the operation of hospital units.

"If we do not strengthen our hospitals with more financial resources, we will continue to face deficits, especially in drugs and basic material such as paracetamol, syringes and gloves," he said.
