Gazprom and VNG review joint UGS projects in Germany

Background

VNG AG was the first private gas company established in East Germany. Today, VNG is a part of the VNG Group, which is composed of more than 60 companies engaged in natural gas exploration, production, transmission, storage and trading across Europe.

Gazprom and VNG are working together on the Katharina UGS facility, a joint project implemented on equal terms. When the facility reaches its design capacity in 2025, it will include 12 caverns with the working gas inventories of some 650 million cubic meters.

Gazprom, VNG, and Wingas are jointly implementing the Jemgum UGS project. It is planned to bring the UGS facility to its design capacity of 900–950 million cubic meters in 2019–2020.
