Governments should privilege good relationship - João Lourenço

The Angolan Head of State was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the new ambassador of Angola in Portugal, Carlos Alberto Saraiva de Carvalho Fonseca, nominated by Presidential Decree.
"It is our duty, in these situations, to work so that relations are deep and that benefit the interest of the parties," said the Angolan President, referring to the less good climate experienced until a few days in the relations between Angola and Portugal.
The Angolan president João Lourenço wish that the two countries have deep relations of friendship, as well as cultural, historical, and considerable commercial exchanges.
He said that the new ambassador was appointed to represent Angola's interests in Portugal and expressed his conviction that the diplomat will be able to do so as long as both countries are concerned with respecting the rules of international relations.
Carlos Alberto Saraiva de Carvalho Fonseca replaces José Marcos Barrica exonerated, by Presidential Decree, last April 23rd.
The relations between the two countries have soured due to a lawsuit in the Court of Appeal of Lisbon (Portugal) in which former Angola's vice-president, Manuel Vicente, is accused on charges of corruption.
In January of this year, President João Lourenço stated that relations between Portugal and Angola were "very dependent" on the resolution of Manuel Vicente's case and classified the attitude of the Portuguese Justice, until then, as "an offense" for the country.
On 10 May, the Lisbon Court of Appeal decided to refer the case to Angola.
