Angolan president winds up Namibia visit
Windhoek, ANGOLA, May 5 - Angolan Head of State João Lourenço ended Saturday a three-day state visit to Namibia, at the invitation of his host counterpart, Hage Geingob.

On his first official visit to the neighbouring country, the Angolan statesman was accompanied by the First Lady Ana Dias Lourenço, senior staff of his Office, ministers, as well as the governors of Namibe, Huíla and Cunene.
João Lourenço reviewed with his counterpart Hage Geingob the state of bilateral relations and issues of regional and international interest.
The Angola president was honoured with the First Degree Order Medal, the highest award in Namibia.
The move came in recognition of his contribution to the struggle for national liberation, peace, security, freedom, justice and independence of Namibia.
João Lourenço, who was the 10th statesman honoured with the highest award in Namibia, expressed deep appreciation to the Namibian authorities for the move.
Angolan statesman paid tribute to more than 600 Namibian refugees, mostly children and women killed in the villages of Cassinga and Chetequera in Angola by then South African apartheid racist army.
The two presidents pledged to build two monuments in Cassinga (Huíla) and Chetequera (Cunene) to pay homage to the victims of the Cassinga massacre.
The pledge is to be confirmed at signing agreement ceremony, scheduled for next week in Angola.
The States signed a deal on Preservation of Environment in continuous zone connecting the two countries.
Angola/Namibia friendship and cooperation ties date back 28 years.
