This decision followed the fact that the party's President to have suggested holding the extraordinary congress to elect the new leader by December this year or April 2019.
José Eduardo dos Santos has been at the helm of the ruling party since 1979 following the death of Antonio Agostinho Neto, then president of the ruling party in Angola, since 11 November 1975.
