The Congressional Victims’ Rights Caucus Honors the U.S. Center for SafeSport

Representative Ted Poe Awards the Center the Allied Professional Award

DENVER, UNITED STATES, April 12, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The U.S. Center for SafeSport, a national nonprofit focused on ending all forms of physical, emotional and sexual abuse in sport, was honored by the Congressional Victims’ Rights Caucus (VRC) today in Washington D.C. The Center’s CEO and President, Shellie Pfohl, attended the Capitol Hill ceremony to accept the Allied Professional Award after Congressman Ted Poe (R-TX) nominated the organization for its commitment to protecting athletes from all forms of abuse.

Each year the VRC honors outstanding individuals and organizations for their tireless efforts supporting and empowering survivors of crime. Co-chaired and co-founded by Reps.Ted Poe and Jim Costa (D-CA), the bipartisan caucus advocates for crime victims and protects programs that provide critical support for related services.

Designated as the independent national safe sport organization by the Protecting Young Victims from Sexual Abuse and Safe Sport Authorization Act of 2017, the Center investigates sexual misconduct within the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Movements. The nonprofit acts as a resource for any sports entity, from youth to professional, by providing consultation on abuse prevention techniques and policies while developing best practices and educational programs focused on promoting athlete wellbeing and ending all forms abuse in sport.
