Gazprom and Snam discuss avenues for cooperation
Background
Italy’s Snam S.p.A. is the largest European infrastructure company engaged in the construction and integrated management of gas transmission facilities, as well as natural gas transportation, storage, regasification and marketing.
TurkStream is the project for an export gas pipeline stretching across the Black Sea from Russia to Turkey and further to Turkey's border with neighboring countries. The first string of the pipeline is intended for Turkish consumers, while the second string will deliver gas to Europe. Construction of TurkStream’s offshore section commenced on May 7, 2017.
In 2017, Gazprom delivered 23.8 billion cubic meters of gas to Italy.
Between March 1 and March 31, 2018, Russian gas exports to Italy totaled 2.12 billion cubic meters – an increase of 99 per cent, or 1.06 billion cubic meters, from March 2017 (1.07 billion cubic meters).
According to estimates, gas deliveries on April 1–3, 2018, showed growth of 7.5 per cent against the same period of 2017.
